Radiohead

Happy birthday Thom Yorke! Here's a virtual slice of badly drawn (and vegan!) cake for ya.

Radiohead's singer and multi-instrumentalist, Thom Yorke, turned 41 today, and in honor of that, I'm going to rant about Radiohead's awesomeness. That's a lie, I won't rant about their awesomeness, because obviously you are already aware of it. Anywho, in a little less than two weeks Yorke's song Hearing Damage will be released on the soundtrack for upcoming vampire movie New Moon. (The first movie had an amazing soundtrack, and with artists like Thom Yorke, Death Cab For Cutie, Muse, and The Killers on the second movie's soundtrack, we're almost guaranteed a repeat of compilation genius.) But in the meantime, check out this perfectly strange video for the acoustic version of Creep.

Fall Out Boy

Despite Internet rumors abound, Fall Out Boy has not officially broken up and they have also denied allegations of being on hiatus. Back in January, it was hinted that the plans for the band were uncertain as for what would happen once the Believer's Never Die Part Deux tour was completed. Given the nature of the lyrics and video of the eighth track, What A Catch, Donnie, from Folie
à Deux, people began think of the single as FOB's swan song. Recently, bassist/frontman Pete Wentz announced "the world needs a break from Fall Out Boy."

All this information still would still leave me hopeful, but being made aware that a greatest hits album named after their recent tour (Believers Never Die) is coming out in November gives me a bad feeling in my gut. My personal opinion is that singer Patrick Stump is going to work at the solo album that so many have encouraged him to put out and Wentz will continue being a jack-of-all-entertainment-industry-based-trades (as for the rest of the band, uh good luck with the rest of you lives...). As parting words, however, I'd like to include that Wentz told Paste Magazine "
There's nothing worse than when you like a band...and you can totally tell that...they just felt like they had to put out a record."
