So I cannot believe that I have yet to mention 30 Seconds to Mars anywhere in this blog, but then again, I cannot believe I hadn't written anything in months either. 30 Seconds to Mars and the hair stylings of Jared Leto (what can I say, I work at a men's salon) have captured my attention recently, particularly since the release of the single Kings and Queens from their latest album, This Is War. The video was exactly what their fans expect: amazing and innovative enough to make your eyes fall from your face or for your body to spontanteously burst into dancing or headbanging - whatever floats your boat. Not to mention, it was free on iTunes for a while, so I loved it all the more.
But it is Closer to the Edge that is my favorite song and video so far, if only because I've seen so much concert footage done wrong - whereas 30 Seconds to Mars has it down to a science, or maybe a highly calculated art. If you aren't moved by this then maybe you are Heartless (yeah, I got me some Kanye nostalgia).
Also check out the video for Hurricane if you'd like.
