A Different Spin with Mark Hoppus

What do Mark Hoppus and September 16th have in common? ...No his birthday is in March.

How about that this fall on the previously stated day (why can't people find it in themselves to repeat things? September 16th September 16th September 16th) the previously named bassist of blink-182 (Mark Hoppus Mark Hoppus Mark Hoppus - I'm not afraid) will be speaking to you through your television. The new Fuse show has an ego, calling itself "unlike any other music show ever seen on television." The failure of the MTV show, "FNMTV," that Pete Wentz worries me - that show was supposed to be somethin' special, too. We'll see, or perhaps hear, if it's any good in due time (23 days from today actually).

...I really wish I actually got the channel on my dinosaur of a TV. Hello Hulu!

Moonmen and Woman

Go vote Paramore's video Ignorance as best rock video for the MTV Video Music Awards on September 12th. They've yet to win a Moonman so I think they deserve it (although I personally like their video for The Only Exception better).

Others nominated in the same category include 30 Seconds to Mars' Kings and Queens and Muse's Uprising. Frontwoman Hayley Williams is nominated in three other categories for her contribution to the song and video Airplanes by B.o.B.

The new artist category sadly sums up the year's music: a few too many autotuned pop stars (although indie-electronic collaboration Broken Bells isn't painful at all and always preferable Beiber).

"Wait what??? You got to see your tied-for-favorite singer* perform live?" Yes, yes I did.
Vans Warped Tour Twenty Ten was good to me - I got to see plenty of great artists (Mayday Parade, Sum 41, AM Taxi, The Cab, Anarbor, Hey Monday, Anarbor, and a little bit o' Mike Posner, The Pretty Reckless, and Artist Vs. Poet). Biggest laments: Christofer Drew of Never Shout Never's vocal rest and a time table that was inconsistent as the day went on.

Highlight of the day was a photo WITH the above frontwoman. However, my face on a 90 something degree day spent in the midst of a dancing crowd? Let's spare you that gruesomeness.

Back to Juliet Simms - she's featured in title track of the latest Secondhand Serenade album (released August 3rd) and the first full-length of her band is in (all the good) stores (that sell (good) music) now. But if you wanna hear her vocal chops, check out the song that first introduced me to her - my favorite song of all time (not saying it to be punny it's the complete truth) - All Time Low's Remembering Sunday.

*gotta give half of my obsessive love to Hayley Williams of Paramore fame
